Whats conditions is Scrambler Therapy not suitable for?

  • Patients who have a pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Women who are or might be pregnant
  • Certain medical conditions including epilepsy
  • Patients who use neuroleptic agents for pain such as Lyrica (Pregalbin), Neurontin (Gabapentin) or Amitriptyline (Elavil) should consult with their prescribing physicians to ween off these medications prior to treatment in order to obtain the most significant outcome possible. We will discuss this with you on as this pertains to a case by case basis.

Is Scrambler Therapy Safe?

This treatment has been used in the U.S. for years and has been cleared by the FDA. Scrambler Therapy has been performed successfully in Europe for more than 15 years. Thousands of people have benefited from Scrambler Pain Therapy Treatment with no reported side-effects other than some “humming” sensation during treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need? How Quickly Will I See Results?

After your initial consultation, our standard protocol is 10-12 consistent treatments over a couple of weeks. Subsequent booster treatments might be necessary. There are several variables that determine how quickly pain relief will commence. Patients can experience pain relief as early as their first session but others begin to see results after additional treatments. As the number of treatments increase, the duration of pain relief will be sustained for a longer period of time.

Who will perform Scrambler Therapy on me?

Scrambler Therapy is a “provider dependent” therapy; the success of the treatment is dependent on the carefully calculated (optimal) placement of each of the treatment leads in accordance with the location of the original pain, injury or surgical site.

Every treatment at Ark-La-Tex Neuropathic Pain Center is performed by Dr. Kirit S. Patel. Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes.
